View Susie Q on Amazon Prime here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Susie-Q-Anthony-Robles/dp/B0B8HW3H37
Susie Q is a comedy/crime film that originally saw a release during the NYC Indie Film Festival, but was re-edited by filmmaker Vilan Trub during COVID and re-released to much greater success and currently holds a 7.0 rating on IMDb. The production was inspired by the French New Wave and films from the 90's indie movement such as Clerks.
"I grew up during September 11 and saw a drastic change in society following that day. It was my generation's Kennedy moment and I always remembered how American Graffiti captured the feeling of community problems superseding world events in importance before the Kennedy assassination. That's what I wanted this movie to be, a time capsule with the Summer of 2001." - Vilan Trub, Director/Writer
Vilan Trub also directed The Dirty Kind from Executive Producer Michael Madsen.

Gypsy Queens releases new album
The Gypsy Queens, the original strolling band, releases its third studio album featuring Lulu, Tony Danza and Peter Noone.
"The Gypsy Queens; The most famous band you have never heard of"
The Gypsy Queens, the iconic original strolling band, has announced the release of its third studio album on 17th November 2023. With a repertoire that spans an eclectic mix of musical favourites, the album features many of the bands long time collaborators and musical legends, combining to create a record sure to be a household favourite.
Following the success of two previous albums, the first of which hit the number one spot on Amazon, the band’s third record is truly exemplary of The Gypsy Queens’ entertaining sound and vivacious energy.
Founded by Didier "Didi" Casnati and Phil Jones, The Gypsy Queens began their journey as buskers in the streets of Nice, evolving to stunning global stardom. Covering an impressive 66 countries, playing to 57 heads of states and with over 100 million views on YouTube, the band’s staggering experience and awesome performances speak for themselves.
At the start, cafes, bars and restaurants were The Gypsy Queens’ stage, before an experience at La Petite Maison, owned by celebrated restaurateur Nicole Rubi, changed their trajectory forever.
One evening, mid-performance, Bono joined the band for a jam. Little did they know that Nick Raphael of London Records was in the audience. He would go on to sign them to Universal Music in 2012, recognising their incredible talents for entertaining an audience with rigour, which ultimately led to their first stage performance at world-famous Glastonbury Festival, worlds away from the past stages of cafes and bars.
This impressive skill and the ability to interact with their crowds to ensure the most memorable of experiences has led them to perform at the most exclusive parties across the globe. A far cry from busking on the streets of Nice, The Gypsy Queens are sure never to forget their beginnings, and perform regularly at high-profile charity events.
Today, The Gypsy Queens consists of Didi (Didier Casnati) lead singer, guitarist and manager; Liam Hornsby (drummer and singer); Tyler Gasek (saxophonist and singer); Joan Chavez (contrabass player); and Geronimo Ribas (guitarist and singer). Throughout their new album and their global performances, The Gypsy Queens draw from an extensive catalogue of classic songs (such as California Dreaming, Volare, Satisfaction, Aisha, Tutti Frutti) as well as new favourites, including Pharrell William’s Happy, Enrique Iglesias’s Bailando, and Miley Cyrus’ Flowers guaranteeing their entertainment spans generations.
The band’s riotously entertaining performances have found them shoulder to shoulder with high-profile fans like Robert De Niro, Chris Martin, Elton John, Beyonce, David Beckham and Quincy Jones. The Gypsy Queens are an incredible force and talent whose success is visible through their jam-packed schedules and intricate travel agenda.
Released in 2012, the first studio album was produced by the celebrated four-time Grammy winner Larry Klein, and had guest appearances from an array of talent including Madeleine Peyroux, Booker T (of Booker T and the MG’s), “America” and Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, Young & Nash). In 2014, their second album “Lost in the Music” was released and the Gypsy Queens were awarded “La Estrella de Oro”, a Spanish distinction for professional excellence.
‘Reminiscing with Friends’ is due for release in November 2023. Produced again by the legendary Larry Klein with guest performances from music and acting greats, it is a perfect example of the exceptional performances The Gypsy Queens give their audiences around the world. The band benefited from some of Los Angeles’ best recording musicians to complete the five piece band. James Gadson, drummer on the infamous ‘I Will Survive’ track, lends his beats to the album, and Kirk Whalum of ‘I Will Always Love You’ fame plays saxophone on ‘Oh Me Oh My’ with Lulu, whose hits include ‘To Sir With Love’ and ‘Shout’.'
Dean Parks on guitar throughout the record creates the musical backing for Didi’s recognisable vocal talents. Surprise guests include Tony Danza, who features on "Buona Sera Signorina". The single is available from 13th October, with a beautiful video shot in New York and Nice: the original idea was given to them by Oscar winning writer John Patrick Shanley.
The single ‘Oh Me Oh My’ with Lulu will be released 3rd November. The first track on the album, which has been released, is the old favourite ‘I’m into Something Good’ featuring none other than Peter Noone, of the original Herman’s Hermits, alongside Didi’s vocals. The entire album will be available to pre-order from 13th October and released for general sale on 17thNovember.
Didi Casnati comments on the release: “It is unbelievable that we have been able to do a record with these incredible musicians and brilliant producer, and share the singing with some of my all time greatest heroes, Lulu, Tony and Peter. I can't thank them enough! We are so excited to be able to share the sound of The Gypsy Queens with the world through this record, and we hope it brings listeners as much joy as it gave us to create it.”

A Worthwhile Error. The Story of Francis House Children’s Hospice
The phrase was coined by co-founder Sister Aloysius FMSJ to describe the decision to build the hospice with hardly any money.
Her gamble paid off thanks to the overwhelming generosity of donors and the first children’s hospice in the north-west was duly built from a convent in Didsbury, south Manchester.
Some 16 religious Sisters sacrificed their home so that much-needed respite care could be provided for youngsters with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
More than 1,500 families have received help since the charity first opened its doors late in 1991, when Princess Diana performed the official opening.
One of the chapters in the book features her visit and that of her eldest son William, accompanied by wife Kate, to open a new wing of hospice for young people over the age of 16 in 2016.
The book explains how brave youngster Kirsty Howard put the hospice on the map by raising more than £5m to ensure the charity’s survival when it was struggling financially.
Kirsty, born with a rare heart condition, starred alongside David Beckham when handing the baton to Queen Elizabeth II at the Opening Ceremony of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Endless stories of dedicated volunteers include the amazing sacrifices made by Pauline Armitage MBE who spent 26 years working a 40-hour week as a bookkeeper without pay. It was her way of giving to the hospice.
Kyle Wells has lived at the charity’s specialist residential unit since 2014 after beginning respite stays nearly 30 years ago.
Kyle, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy, said: “When I first came here as a child, I was in tears and wanted to go home. The next time I cried it was because I wanted to stay. My mum was a heavy drinker and had an abusive partner. By coming here, I went from domestic chaos to complete calmness and feeling cared for.”
CEO David Ireland has been with the hospice since the start. His first involvement was as an architect, designing the building.
He said: “The book is an in-depth look at the rich history of Francis House. It shares the stories of the many personalities involved including, most importantly, the wonderful families who have passed through our doors.”
The glossy hardback book, written by author, broadcaster and journalist Andy Buckley who is from Sale, also details how Francis House has helped sick children across the world.
It has helped several countries establish hospice facilities, including Japan, Australia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Belarus, Canada, USA, Czech Republic and Latvia.
A Worthwhile Error – The History of Francis House Children’s Hospice is available for £19.95 (plus postage and packing) by calling the hospice on 0161 434 4118 or from www.francishouse.org.uk/online-shop. All proceeds will be donated to the care of children, young people and their families.

LoreKeeper AI assistant for TTRPGs launches at Comic Con
Born from a small role-playing group in North London that has been immersed in Dungeons and Dragons since the 1980s, LoreKeeper has evolved with the efforts of a global team spanning Boston and Georgia. This project is a testament to the indie spirit of development in an era usually dominated by massive tech giants.
Founder David Harrison, shared his enthusiasm with us, saying, “Running games week in and week out for years, I love it! However coming up with new adventures, names, and rules every week was getting near to burnout for me. But I had this idea of an AI character within the game, and then decided to bring that idea to our world to enhance the game. It's all become a bit of a paradox, really.”
LoreKeeper offers a sophisticated tool designed to assist with campaign planning and world-building. The beta version will provide users with a glimpse into the future of table top role-playing games (TTRPGs).
"We're thrilled to introduce LoreKeeper to the world at Comic Con. I haven’t seen anyone doing what we're doing. I believe we're the first to market. It’s both nerve-wracking and genuinely exciting at the same time," he added.
LoreKeeper's beta version will showcase its innovative features, including the ability to handle complex rules, provide elements for building expansive game worlds, and interact with live NPCs. The platform streamlines hours of game preparation into minutes, making it an invaluable tool for both new and experienced Dungeon Masters.
The LoreKeeper team extends an invitation to all Comic Con attendees to visit their booth and experience the beta version first hand. Attendees will have the fantastic chance to interact with the platform, offer valuable feedback, have their ideas illustrated by the artist Callum Carr, and sign up for the service, too/
FACTFILE: LoreKeeper is an independent, self-financed company. Londoner David Harrison, the CEO, has worked in Live Music and Technology for over 25 years, building and launching Myticket.co.uk, and has extensive experience in the live music industry. Nathaniel Gibson from Boston Massachusetts, CTO, has been building news filtering and language model bots for over 20 years.
Alastair Kember, Head of Product, has been developing games for over two decades and took a unique turn by running a delightful fish restaurant called the Oyster Shack Devon, embarking on one last adventure.

Amsterdam Dance Event completes 2023 programme with over 2,900 artists and Official Opening Event at Rijksmuseum
The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) has completed its programme for ADE 2023 and is unveiling a special collaboration with Amsterdam staple Rijksmuseum and DJ upsammy as its Official Opening Event. The result is "Breathe, Walk, Die", a unique performance where art and music converge.
The event takes place in the iconic bicycle passage under the Rijksmuseum, made possible by the collaboration between the two cultural institutions. Breathe, Walk, Die will take place on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30 PM and will also be streamed live on ADE’s channels.
ADE and Rijksmuseum present "Breathe, Walk, Die"
"Breathe, Walk, Die" is a three-act theatrical performance that brings to life the exhibition Museum Boijmans van Beuningen at Rijksmuseum. The show is based on the musical tour that DJ upsammy composed for the exhibition under the direction of creative producer Tom Trago, in which life – from birth to death – is musically reflected through themes such as fear, lust and ambition. With live sounds by percussionist Valentina Magaletti and a visual interpretation by designer Theun Mosk, the performance promises to be one of the central showpieces of ADE 2023.
The collaboration between ADE and Rijksmuseum represents an important step for both institutions in merging different art disciplines to create unique, connecting experiences. This initiative also marks ADE’s direction towards becoming a more artistic platform that encourages young musical talent on a broader stage, and emphasises the cultural value of electronic music.
"We are extremely proud that we have been able to set up this initiative in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum, and present electronic music’s positive impact and contribution to cultural heritage to an even wider audience," says Jan-Willem van de Ven, Director of ADE. Hendrikje Crebolder, Director of Development and Media at the Rijksmuseum, adds: “thanks to our partnership with ADE and Heineken, we can offer a new audience a unique experience in the museum and beyond.”
ADE Festival programme
The latest wave of artists for the ADE program includes Animistic Beliefs, ANOTR, Colin Benders, DJ Chuckie, Ellen Allien, Grandmaster Flash, Hunee, Jennifer Cardini, Lady Bee, Louie Vega, Saoirse and Ummet Ozcan. The complete list of the new acts announced can be found below, and the full program can be viewed on the ADE website.

New Book Reveals the Skills Needed to Develop Emotional Intelligence
The Emotional Intelligence Book: How to Develop Your EQ for More Successful Life, by one of Europe’s top emotional intelligence (EQ) practitioners Nicole Soames, is a concise and practical tool kit on how to develop your EQ. Coming out in October, the book reveals the essential skills people need to develop to enhance their emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognise and manage your own emotions and those of others around you.
It is one of the most underrated skills in the workplace. It’s often wrongly assumed that individuals are born with a fixed EQ, when, in reality, anyone can learn how to develop and use their EQ effectively.
In The Emotional Intelligence Book, Soames argues emotional intelligence can be broken down into four core areas: knowing yourself, managing yourself, navigating the world around you and managing your relationships.
She examines each area in detail and reveals the specific set of skills needed to set people up for success in life. These include uncovering your blind spots, controlling your emotions, managing your work-life balance, and the ability to have straightforward conversations.
Nicole Soames says why she wrote The Emotional Intelligence Book: “I was determined to share my knowledge and expertise with others, to open their eyes to the power of emotional intelligence and why it holds the key to leading a more successful life.”
Soames takes the reader on a journey to develop their self-awareness, social skills, self-management and ambition. The book showcases why emotional intelligence has become an essential skill in today’s business world and gives easy-to-follow guidance on how to use it to thrive in one’s professional and personal life.
Dr Martyn Newman, Chairman of Roche Martin, says about The Emotional Intelligence Book: “This book is an impressive toolbox, jam-packed with actionable models and practical tools for building emotional intelligence.”
Nicole Soames is a leading coach, EQ practitioner and founder/CEO of Diadem, a training and coaching company with many hundreds of clients across the globe. She is the author of four other books: The Influence Book, The Presentation Book, The Coaching Book and The Negotiation Book (all published by LID).
The Emotional Intelligence Book is published on 12 October 2023 by LID Publishing, available as a paperback and e-book.

Time Team Special: Digging the Band of Brothers to premiere worldwide on YouTube
The first brand new Time Team Special featuring Sir Tony Robinson will premiered Saturday 30th September 2023 at 7pm (BST) on the Time Team Official YouTube channel.
The eagerly anticipated documentary sees Time Team working with Operation Nightingale in an English village linked to the United States Army’s most famous regiment of the Second World War – the legendary ‘Band of Brothers’.
Aldbourne, Wiltshire, was once home to the iconic Easy Company of the US 101st Airborne Division. The paratroopers were stationed there in 1943, before engaging in pivotal actions of World War II – among them Operation Overlord, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge.
80 years later, in May 2023, Time Team visited to explore the traces they left behind through an archaeological investigation. The excavation was spearheaded by Operation Nightingale, a Ministry of Defence initiative that uses archaeology to support the recovery of servicemen and women returning from conflict.
Time Team’s creator and Series Producer, Tim Taylor, says: “What a thrill to join forces once again with Operation Nightingale.” The initiative’s co-founder, Richard Osgood, MBE, says: “We’ve made some fantastic discoveries together in Aldbourne, while continuing our efforts to assist military veterans with the power of archaeology.” Tony Robinson says: “It’s wonderful to be back out in the field with Time Team again, and what a project to kick things off!”
To celebrate the release, Time Team has partnered with Warner Hotels for a very special competition. The prize includes a luxurious 3-night stay at Littlecote House, a grand Tudor mansion near Aldbourne, with a stunning Roman mosaic in the grounds. Littlecote was the headquarters of the 101st Airborne during the war, and is where Tony Robinson filmed several scenes for the new episode.
Since returning to screens, Time Team has investigated sites including a Knights Hospitaller preceptory, an Anglo-Saxon cemetery and a Roman sarcophagus. The episodes are possible thanks to thousands of fans worldwide, on the online membership platform, Patreon. With over 9,000 current members, Time Team has set a goal of 10,000 ongoing members in order to develop more episodes.
Tim Taylor says: “We can’t wait to share our new Time Team Special with you, and investigate more historic sites together!”

New Book Reveals How Data Can Drive Profitability for Businesses
The Fifth Phase: An Insight-Driven Approach to Business Transformation, by leading data and analytics specialist Mark Powell, aims to answer the big business question that many companies are still struggling with. How to use data in a manner that will truly drive profitability?
The connected world offers the potential for radical new business insights gleaned from previously unimaginable volumes of data. But business has got bogged down in the process of collecting and storing that data. Money has been wasted on data lakes in which many IT departments have drowned without being able to deliver useful insights to business leaders. Data has long been regarded as the new oil, but to date, we have only built oil depots.
In The Fifth Phase, Powell analyses the new phase of business transformation, which will build the refineries that turn data into useful products. It helps the reader focus on the big business questions that drive real value for their company and use data in a manner that will truly drive profitability and business performance.
Mark Powell says why he wrote The Fifth Phase: “I have spent many years grappling with the challenges organizations face in achieving the genuinely transformative benefits that data analytics and AI have the potential to deliver. As more and more concerns are raised about the potential impact of AI on business and society, there is a risk that we lose sight of the power AI-driven data analytics have to change our world for the better. The Fifth Phase is a reminder of this potential and, I hope, a map to help us navigate the issues and challenges we face in delivering these outcomes."
Powell argues business has started from ‘data up’ and needs to start again from ‘value down’, going back to the drivers of real business value and deciding what insights would help realize that value. Only then can we begin to interrogate data with purpose.
Catriona Campbell, Partner and CTIO at EY says about the book: “The Fifth Phase is a captivating read on the evolution of data and its pivotal role in reshaping business. It charts the growth, use and misuse of data and how data has fuelled innovation, decision-making, and market disruption. I loved the storytelling that brings data to life, from Taylor’s industrial revolution shovel sizes to cutting-edge situation rooms assessing and mitigating national security threats. It shares some great lessons on how to make data work and is super-relevant for today’s AI challenges.”
Mark Powell is a Partner at EY, a world-leading consultancy firm. He specializes in the application of data and analytics to drive business transformation.
The Fifth Phase is published on 5 October 2023 by LID Publishing, available as a paperback and e-book.

New UFO Film - God Versus Aliens - Suggests Life May Be A Computer Game Controlled By Alien
"Extra terrestrial AI may form a kinship with human AI and bypass humanity altogether!”
The new documentary, now streaming on Tubi and Ayozat, examines the concept that life is merely a simulation designed and controlled by Extra Terrestrials.
God Versus Aliens, looks into whether life as we know and perceive it is just a simulation designed and controlled by extra terrestrials for some unknown purposes presently unknown.
It's called Simulation Theory and suggests life (as we know it) is basically some sort of computer game. Swedish philosopher Nick Bostrom proposed this concept in 2003 and it even has Elon Musk as a believer - he states the odds of us actually living in a "real" physical reality are a billion to 1!
This theory would then make religion and even the idea of God as a construct of the computer game and thereby the Aliens controlling it. This films explores this theory and its impact on the world's religions should we make first contact, and especially if that contact would actually negate our physical existence and any notion of God as real.
"Extra terrestrial AI may form a kinship with human AI and bypass humanity altogether!” Avi Loeb - Harvard University
The film features exclusive interviews with some of the world’s top UFO experts including Nick Pope who used to run the UK’s UFO desk for the Ministry of Defence. He looks into whether ETs would bring their own religions and what would happen if they were really "crazy out there religions." -Would they impose them on us in a reverse colonialism?
Other interviewees include Professor Avi Loeb of Harvard University, Seth Shostak the Chief astronomer from SETI (Search For Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) who was also the scientific adviser on the hit Jodie Foster film Contact, Tony Topping an alleged UFO abductee, and the Rev Daniel Thompson who said: “First contact with ET will make people’s heads explode!”
The film investigates evidence for previous visitations form the Bible and other ancient texts, plus exploring what role AI would have in the search for ET and whether alien life would also use AI to make contact with ourselves.
Professor Avi Loeb states extra terrestrial AI may form a kinship with human AI and bypass humanity altogether.
It's the perfect time to release the film with recent revelations by DOD whistleblowers about the US government holding crashed “non human” craft and bodies as reported in The Guardian, The Telegraph and Newsweek magazine this week.
The film’s highlights include an interview with an Alien Abductee - Tony Topping - who claims to have been taken by Aliens since childhood and states that there are many types of aliens and that:
"The Universe is populated and we are being lied to.”
Both Tony Topping and Author Brian Allan assert that there is a secret organisation involved called The Collins Elite who work alongside the Aliens and help cover up the abduction phenomenon.

Tourists to make music with their luggage at Oktoberfest!
During Oktoberfest, they can now use them to create music. How can this possibly be a thing? Let us explain how such a thing could be.
To celebrate Paulaner’s special connection to Oktoberfest, the brewery and the creative agency thjnk Munich are ringing in Oktoberfest 2023 in a very special way, with the Paulaner SoundTrack.
What is the Paulaner SoundTrack?
The Paulaner SoundTrack is a publicly accessible, innovative musical art installation situated between Terminals 1 and 2 at Munich Airport. And it's guaranteed that it will be getting all travellers into the Oktoberfest mood!
More specifically, it is a walkable track made using acrylic glass into which precise grooves have been milled.
As soon as a passenger walks along the track with their wheeled suitcases at the speed set by a special strip of lights, various musical tones will be heard.
Heard in sequence, these tones produce the melody of the well-known Oktoberfest song Ein Prosit der GemĂĽtlichkeit.
It’s obvious only one melody is suitable for Paulaner’s ‘soundtrack’: Ein Prosit der GemĂĽtlichkeit is the Oktoberfest classic that makes Oktoberfest visitors raise their mugs, up to three times an hour. The fact that a suitcase is capable of playing an exact melody from a sequence of different groove frequencies is based on precise calculations by Canadian doctor and audiologist Marshall Chasin.Around 20% of the approximately six million annual Oktoberfest visitors travel from abroad to toast with the specially brewed Oktoberfest beer. Paulaner is an essential part of this tradition. Because as one of six breweries in Munich, Paulaner has the privilege of being the official Oktoberfest beer.
The tasty Paulaner Oktoberfest beer is the original Munich Beer and is even the best-selling Oktoberfest beer in retail. It's therefore the best way to properly welcome Oktoberfest visitors to Munich.

The Boisdale Music Awards 2023
With each winner performing on stage after receiving their Boisdale Music Award, an audience of more than 200 musicians and guests were treated to an astonishing array of unique, unforgettable performances.
From Kathy Sledge’s spontaneous, floor-filling rendition of Sister Sledge’s We Are Family through to a surprise finale which featured Jools Holland and his drum-tight band joining forces with soul superstar Gregory Porter for a deep dive into Muddy Waters’ ageless Hoochie Coochie Man, there was a palpable sense of excitement in the air that has now become synonymous with the Boisdale Music Awards.
Rapper and talk show host Big Narstie launched the evening in his irrepressible style when he presented Courtney Courtney with her Rising Star Award, whilst Mud Morganfield held the audience in the palm of his hand with a truly mesmerising performance of his father Muddy Waters’ iconic Mannish Boy. Alabama 3 unleashed an incendiary take of Woke Up This Morning (the Sopranos theme tune) that got everybody dancing, and newcomer Polly Gibbons delivered a sultry rendition of Bessie Smith’s timeless Need A Little Sugar In My Bowl that belied her age.
As the evening drew to a close, soul Queen PP Arnold sent shivers down everyone’s spines with a heartbreakingly beautiful show-stopping take on her 1967 signature song, The First Cut Is The Deepest, Kid Creole and the Coconuts got everybody singing along to Annie, I’m Not Your Daddy, whilst legendary funkateers the Brand New Heavies and Shalamar brought the 2023 Boisdale Music Awards to a fitting climax and helped to make it another brilliant Night To Remember.

Boisdale was home to The Macdonald’s of Boisdale – the senior branch of the Macdonald’s of Clanranald, the largest and most anciently Royal of all the Highland clans. There are more than six million Macdonald clansmen throughout the world – all of whom can lay claim to this magnificent heritage, which has been charted down the generations since the 3rd century BC.
Boisdale’s founder is Ranald Macdonald - the eldest son of the 24th Chief and Captain of Clanranald - who launched the first restaurant in Belgravia 34 years ago in 1989. Boisdale continues to capture the essence of centuries of proud tradition with its warmth, informality, and unique atmosphere, simultaneously reminiscent of both a Highland country house and the Batcave in Gotham City!

Happy Birthday, Time Team! Time Team is celebrating its 30th birthday with new dig investigating an Iron Age complex near Corfe Castle, Dorset
The British archaeology programme, Time Team is heading out into the field again for another of its ever-popular traditional three-day dig this weekend (15th to 17th September).
The incredible site, absolutely brimming with archaeology, was put forward by Time Team’s own Dr Derek Pitman and Dr Lawrence Shaw. Working together with Harry Manley of Bournemouth University, a single test trench uncovered over 1,000 years of history, bridging the transition from the Iron Age into Roman Britain.
During the Iron Age, some 2,000 years ago, the area was home to the Durotriges tribe, and this site offers excellent opportunities to investigate how they lived and how they died.
Early evidence indicates industrial activity, several phases of settlement and even burials, which is an extremely rare find for this period in British history.
The site is a stone’s throw from Poole’s ancient industrial harbour at Green Island, the subject of a previous investigation by Time Team, nearly 20 years ago. This new excavation seeks to explore possible links between the harbour, and this site, which sits just inland and is in a strategic position within the landscape.
Dr Derek Pitman says: “As a Dorset boy, I’m thrilled to welcome Time Team to my turf, for what looks to be an incredible weekend. I’ve honestly never seen so much archaeology in a single trench before, and we think this is just the tip of something even bigger. I believe we’re all in for a real treat!”
The excavation coincides with the 30th anniversary of filming Time Team’s first episode, back in 1993, which aired the following year.
Time Team’s creator and Series Producer, Tim Taylor, says: “We couldn’t hope for a better site to celebrate three decades of Time Team. I still can’t believe it’s been that long, but here’s to the next 30 years!”
Many familiar faces are returning, including presenter Dr Gus Casely-Hayford, Prof Carenza Lewis, Dr John Gater, Prof Stewart Ainsworth and Dr Helen Geake. Guests for the weekend include old Time Team friends, Dr Philippa Walton and Dr Miles Russell.
Throughout the dig, subscribers to the Patreon account will enjoy exclusive daily updates, direct from the site via ‘Dig Watch’. These include site tours, Q&As with the team and production insights from the crew. The completed episode will premiere worldwide on YouTube at a later date (to be confirmed).
Tim Taylor says: “It’s thanks to our wonderful Patreon members across the globe that Time Team can investigate fascinating sites like this. I can’t wait to see what comes up in Dig Watch!”

Autism superstar joins Head2Head Sensory Theatre as Ambassador
At just 22, Georgia has already made a name for herself in the entertainments industry, recently rising to fame with her TV debut on BBC's hit series A Kind of Spark.
A Kind of Spark captivated audiences with its inclusive nature, featuring autistic characters played by actors who are autistic themselves. Georgia's involvement in the show further solidified her status as not only prodigious talent, but also an autism advocate.
As an Ambassador for Head2Head Sensory Theatre, Georgia will lend her support to the charity's mission of enriching the lives of young people who aspire to experience the joys of theatre and performing arts.
Expressing her excitement about the new role, Georgia said, "I'm so pleased to be Head2Head Sensory Theatre's new ambassador! The work of this charity is so important and meaningful, and I feel honoured to help raise awareness for it and to be able to play a part in the amazing work H2H does."

In addition to her acting career, Georgia recently completed her final year in Politics and International Relations at the University of Birmingham. Her involvement in A Kind of Spark, a TV adaptation of Elle McNicoll's incredible book about the adventures of an autistic girl, showcases the series' commitment to inclusivity.

A New Book Reveals How to Live in a Flow All of the Time
The Power of the Dao: Seven Essential Habits for Living in Flow, Fulfillment and Resilience reveals how we can live in a state of flow all of the time. From best-selling author Max Landsberg, whose books have sold more than a million copies in fifteen languages, this book is based on the enduring wisdom of Daoist principles and practice.
Being in flow is when you are ‘in the zone’, ‘on your game’, or even ‘on fire’ as some people put it.
This is both a mental state and a physical one, too. You have a feeling of complete focus, full involvement and deep enjoyment in whatever you are doing. You feel the activity takes no energy from you – indeed you feel that it is giving you energy. You barely notice the passage of time. You feel calm but almost ecstatic. You are resourceful and resilient.
Max Landsberg comments: “I wanted to offer a comprehensive guide to living ‘in flow’. Most existing teachings explain how to achieve this flow state when conducting specific tasks. I wanted to show how to extend those ideas, through tweaks to mindset and habits, so you can live your whole life in flow. This also enhances mindfulness and resilience in our turbulent times.”
In The Power of the Dao, Landsberg uncovers seven of the ancient principles of Daoism which help us to see the unvarnished truth of our surroundings in a clear, open and unblinkered way.
The first three principles are about the way a person and their environment work (Energies, Patterns, Self-so-ness). The following three are about how one chooses to interact with their environment (Simplicity, Effortless Action, Potency). Attaining Dao, or Mastery, is the final principle in the book, which allows one to live in a constant state of flow.
Dr Marshall Goldsmith, Thinkers50 #1 Executive Coach and New York Times bestselling author of The Earned Life and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There says about The Power of the Dao: “Insightful and engaging!... This book hits the mark with powerful techniques for living a more fulfilled life."
Max Landsberg is an internationally recognised authority on personal development, leadership, motivation and executive coaching. His books draw on expertise in strategy from his time as a Partner at McKinsey & Company, and his insights into leadership gained as a Senior Partner at two global head-hunting firms. He most recently led McKinsey’s SeniorPartners Office for seven years.
The Power of the Dao is published on 14 September 2023 by LID Publishing, available as hardback and e-book.
The Audiobook is coming out in December 2023.

Leeds Libraries Unite for Festival
Home to in excess of fifty libraries, the city of Leeds has very good reason to celebrate the wide spectrum of support the information and knowledge sector offers its communities, businesses and public organisations.
With libraries often forming health, academic, arts and heritage subgroups, the Libraries in Leeds network is a unique umbrella organisation in that the common feature of its members is their geographical location.
Not only does the city accommodate a thriving, vibrant public library service, the oldest surviving members’ Subscription Library, four universities and a Conservatoire, it's also the home of national records for DHSC, UKHSA and Royal Armouries.
The British Library is also working towards establishing a permanent new site in Leeds city centre, powered by its existing site at Boston Spa, which is near Wetherby. Not forgetting the collections of regional and national importance preserved by the Morley team of the West Yorkshire Archive Service, librarians at the Henry Moore Institute and curators at the Thackray Museum of Medicine.
Over the past year the Libraries in Leeds network have been quietly supporting each other, sharing best practice, knowledge and information. This autumn is its first public festival. Everyone is warmly invited to learn, be inspired, get creative and have their say about the future of the public libraries in their own city.
With distinguished guests like Sue Williamson MBE, former director of libraries at Arts Council England, Emma Smith, who is Professor of Shakespeare Studies at the University of Oxford, and Dr Nick Barratt, genealogist and consultant researcher to the popular BBC series “Who Do You Think You Are?”, the talks programme is entertaining, relevant and very informative.
Chief Knowledge Officer for NHS Knowledge and Library Services and Chair of the CILIP Board of Trustees Sue Lacey Bryant will be there, discussing how to access reliable health information and highlighting the dangers of health misinformation.
Also, taking place on Wednesday 6th will be a talk on the University of Leeds designated Cookery Collection, supplemented by a Cheese and Drinks reception close to the current exhibition “Becoming the Brontes” which will also be open to visitors.
From Monday 4th to Friday 8th September various libraries are offering a number of Backstage Tours, where people will be able to get a sense of a librarian’s working life at some of the city’s libraries and archives. And the launch of an exciting, unique exhibition will enable some of the city’s treasures to be viewed side by side in digital collection for the first time.
Saturday 9th September will be the day for families with a range of drop-in activities at the Central Library including the special screening of “I Believe in Unicorns”, a stage performance by Danyah Miller of Michael Morpurgo’s much loved story that celebrates the power of books and the sanctuary of libraries.
Meanwhile at the Creatorspace at the University of Leeds families will be able to sign up to a two-hour ‘Get Creative’ session and enjoy seeing their ideas become reality. The festival events are either free or listed on Eventbrite as ‘Pay What You Decide’ to encourage maximum accessibility for everyone.
Not only is the purpose of the festival to raise awareness about the rich collection of resources that are based in Leeds, but the hope is also that local people will understand that the libraries are theirs to enjoy visiting and using. The Libraries in Leeds network’s website usefully highlights each member’s opening hours, visiting policy, contact details, location and a brief description of their offers.
As diversity, equality and inclusion are key to the sector’s continued success, Leeds Beckett University will be hosting an event during #Libraries Week on Thursday 5th October called “What’s it like to work in an academic library?” where a panel of employees from three of the city’s universities will be talking about their different roles and answering questions about their work.
“University of Leeds Libraries are proud to be part of and sponsor the inaugural Libraries in Leeds Festival. The festival celebrates the thriving libraries sector in the wonderful city of Leeds, highlighting the importance of libraries as critical social, knowledge, innovation, and cultural infrastructures. I look forward to our communities making the most of this festival and enjoying the wonderful collections and experiences that our sector offers,” said Masud Khokhar, University Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection, University of Leeds.
And Andrea Ellison, who is Chief Librarian of Leeds Libraries said "Libraries are pleased to have been one of the founding members of the Libraries in Leeds network. We value the opportunity that this vibrant and innovative network brings for our staff teams to meet and collaborate but also the opportunity through this festival to promote to residents and other stakeholders the rich diversity of the city’s library network.”
Sally Halper, Director of Research Services at the British Library said: “We're thrilled to be involved in the Libraries in Leeds Festival as we work towards deepening the British Library’s roots in Yorkshire and establishing a permanent new site in Leeds city centre. Libraries have a powerful unifying influence and we want to ensure as many people as possible, wherever they are, can discover and use the national collection and our services as part of the wider network of libraries and archives that make Leeds such a vibrant city.”
